Case study: SaaS for clinic management

Scenario

A startup wanted to launch a SaaS for appointment, patient and medical record management for private clinics. They needed each clinic to have its own isolated space with protected health data.

Challenge

Build a SaaS platform from scratch with strict health data isolation (GDPR), a subscription system and the ability to scale from 10 to 500 clinics without redesigning the architecture.

Which multitenancy strategy do you recommend?

It depends on the case. For sensitive data (healthcare, finance) we recommend a database per tenant. For applications with many small tenants, tenant by column is more efficient. We analyse your case and choose the optimal strategy.

How are subscriptions managed?

We integrate Laravel Cashier with Stripe for complete management: plans, trials, upgrades, downgrades, recurring billing, downloadable invoices and webhooks to react to payment events.

Can the platform be customised per client?

Yes. The system supports per-tenant configuration: logo, colours, custom domain, active modules and permissions. Each client feels they have their own application.

What happens if a tenant has a usage spike?

The architecture uses queues with per-tenant priority and horizontal scaling. A spike from one client does not affect the performance of others.

Is it GDPR compliant?

Yes. Database-level isolation guarantees physical data separation. We implement consent management, right to erasure, data export and access logs to comply with GDPR.

Can I migrate my existing software to multitenant?
